Gameplay mechanics explained
Le Bandit set the template for the whole "Le" series. Here is exactly what happens on the grid, step by step — try it in the demo before you play for real money.
6×5 Cluster Pays
The grid is 6 columns × 5 rows = 30 positions. A win forms from 5 or more matching symbols connected horizontally or vertically. The bigger the cluster, the higher the pay — there are no fixed paylines.
Core mechanic
Super Cascades
On a winning cluster, the symbols in it plus every other instance of that same symbol type are removed from the grid. New symbols drop in and cascades keep going while new wins form — chains can snowball fast.
Cascade system
Golden Squares
Every position behind a winning symbol is left as a golden frame. When a Rainbow lands it activates all Golden Squares at once, revealing Coins, Clovers and Pots of Gold — the more you build up, the bigger the reveal.
Core feature
Rainbow & Pot of Gold
The Rainbow is the key trigger — it fires every Golden Square on the grid. A Pot of Gold then collects all Coin values in view, stores the total, reactivates its own square and can restart the whole chain.
Bonus trigger
Green & Gold Clover
Green Clover multiplies adjacent Coins and Pots (×2–×20). Gold Clover multiplies every Coin on the whole grid (×2–×20). Clovers apply after Golden Squares reveal, before Pots collect.
Multipliers
Coin values
Golden Squares reveal Coins worth a multiple of your bet — from small Bronze coins that keep sessions ticking up to a single square worth 500× bet. Multiple squares plus Clovers and Pots are how the 10,000× ceiling is reached.
Payouts
Coin types and values
Revealed by Golden Squares when a Rainbow activates. Values are a multiple of your total bet.

Reveal order: Golden Squares reveal → Clovers multiply → Pots of Gold collect → collected squares reactivate and reveal new symbols → chain repeats → everything is summed and paid. A single spin can loop this many times, which is exactly where the big Le Bandit wins come from.
The three bonus rounds
Le Bandit has three free-spins rounds triggered by 3, 4 or 5 Polaroid scatters. Each tier keeps Golden Squares alive longer — the rarest is a Hidden Epic that can't be bought.
Tier 1
Luck of the Bandit
3 FS symbols → 8 free spins
Entry bonus
Golden Squares stay highlighted between spins until a Rainbow activates them, so you build a bigger board before cashing it in. Extra scatters award more free spins.
Golden Squares persist until a Rainbow lands
Extra FS symbols = more free spins
Bonus Buy: 100× bet
Tier 2
All That Glitters Is Gold
4 FS symbols → 12 free spins
Advanced bonus
The big upgrade: Golden Squares stay highlighted even after a Rainbow activates them, so the board keeps growing for the whole round. More spins, more accumulation.
Golden Squares stay after activation
12 free spins base
Bonus Buy: 250× bet
Tier 3 — Hidden Epic
Treasure at the End of the Rainbow
5 FS symbols → 12 free spins
Rare Epic Bonus
A Rainbow lands on every spin, Golden Squares stay active, and Bronze Coins are removed from the pool so only the richer tiers appear. This is where the 10,000× max win lives.
Guaranteed Rainbow every spin
Bronze Coins removed — higher floor

50× bet
Volatility: Medium

Luck of the Bandit

Volatility: Medium
Jumps straight into the Tier 1 round with 8 free spins and persistent squares.
All That Glitters Is Gold
250× bet
Volatility: Medium
Buys the Tier 2 round — 12 spins with squares that stay after activation.
Treasure at the End of the Rainbow cannot be bought. The Hidden Epic only triggers organically on 5 Polaroid scatters. That rarity is exactly what makes it so sought-after — and it's the fastest route to the 10,000× ceiling.
The "Le" series by Hacksaw Gaming
Le Bandit is the original — the game that started the series, with Smokey the moustached raccoon as the recurring star. Each sequel reskins the world and swaps the reveal trigger.
Why start with Le Bandit: it's the cleanest expression of the Golden Squares formula, set in a beautifully animated sepia Paris alley with a ragtime piano score. Smokey cries "bonjour!" between spins in a beret and twirly moustache — later games keep the mascot but change the reveal mechanic and setting.
